Five soldiers martyred, ten terrorists killed in attack on three checkposts in Mohmand Agency

The terrorists hurling from Afghanistan attacked three Pakistani checkposts last night.

MOHMAND AGENCY (Dunya News) - At least five soldiers were martyred and ten terrorists were killed during attack on three Pakistani checkposts in Mohmand Agency.

According to Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), the terrorists hurling from Afghanistan attacked three Pakistani checkposts on Sunday night.

The forces deployed on the location strongly retaliated the attack and foiled the terrorists’ bid to enter in the territory.

"Effective presence, vigilance and response repulsed terrorists attempt," read the ISPR statement.

"In exchange of fire five soldiers embraced martyrdom and over 10 terrorists were reportedly killed," it added.

ISPR has identified the five martyrs as Naik Sanaullah, Naik Safdar, Sepoy Altaf, Sepoy Nek Mohammad and Sepoy Anwar.

Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa has lauded the effective response and effort by the security forces to thwart the terrorists.

He emphasized need for required physical presence on Afgan side of the border for effective border security.

"Terrorists are [a] common threat and must be denied freedom of movement/action along the border," read the statement.

Army Chief also expressed grief and sorrow over the loss of precious lives and praised the sacrifices of the soldiers for their homeland.

Foreign Office Spokesman Nafees Zakaria condemned the cowardly act of terrorists and appreciated the valor of the security forces.
