Parliamentary parties' meeting over military courts extension end without any result

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – A special meeting of the parliamentary parties over the extension of military courts that was chaired by National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq ended without any result, reported Dunya News.

Maulana Fazlur Rehman of JUI-F and Mehmood Khan Achakzai of PkMAP were absent during the meeting.

It is pertinent to mention that this was the fourth meeting over the matter.

During the meeting, DG Military Operations briefed the parliamentary leaders about the two years’ performance of military courts.

The parliamentary leaders expressed their satisfaction over the performance of military courts.

After the meeting, NA Speaker Ayaz Sadiq expressed that a complete consensus would build over the issue after two further meetings and APC would be summoned after final decision. Awami Muslim League (AML) leader Sheikh Rasheed Ahmad professed that significant progress has been achieved over the matter and that things are leading in the right direction.

PPP leader Aijaz Jakharani revealed that the decision in this regard would be made by PPP leaderhip.

The parliamentary leaders were of the opinion that the terrorism needs to eradicated out of the country and that every decision would be made on the basis of national interest.
