Two Punjab govt officials in Russia for helicopter deal

Price of new chopper stands at Rs1.5 billion.

LAHORE (Daily Dunya) - Two officials of the Punjab government, Additional Secretary Welfare Mudassar Riaz Malik and Secretary for Minerals and Mining Arsahd Mahmood, on Thursday left for Russia to ink agreement for purchase of a new helicopter costing around Rs1.5 billion.

Services and General Administration Department (S&GAD) had issued no objection certificate (NOC) to the officials for Russia visit.

Arrival of Malik and Arshad is being anticipated on February 3; after completion of paperwork.

Earlier, the Punjab government had constituted four-member committee for helicopter purchase comprising Arshad Mahmood, Mudassar Riaz, Chief Pilot Col.(R) Safdar Hussain and Flight Engineer Ltn Col.(R) Nasir Mahmood.
