24 killed, 87 injured in Parachinar market blast
The blast took place when dozens of people were busy shopping in the vegetable market.
PARACHINAR (Dunya News) - At least twenty four people were killed and 87 others injured when a bomb exploded in a vegetable market in Pakistan‘s northwest tribal area of Kurram Agency on Saturday morning.
The blast took place at 8:50am when dozens of people were busy shopping in the vegetable market located in Parachinar area of Kurram Agency, a semi-autonomous tribal region along Pakistan-Afghanistan border.

The injured people were shifted to a nearby hospital where several of them are said to be in critical condition.
Security forces cordoned off the area for investigations. No group has claimed responsibility for the attack yet.

Inetrior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan strongly condemned the attack and expressed grief over loss of precious lives in the blast.
Kurram is one of Pakistan’s seven semi-autonomous tribal districts which are governed according to local laws and customs, and sits close to the border with Afghanistan.
The district is on the frontline of Pakistan’s battle against militancy that began in 2004 after the US-led invasion of Afghanistan forced Taliban and Al-Qaeda militants to flee across the border.
That insurgency has claimed lives of thousands of civilians and security forces’ personnel.
Overall levels of violence have decreased recently following a nationwide military-led offensive against terrorists launched in mid-June 2014.
