Heavy snowfall causes roads blockage in Azad Kashmir

Intermittent rain and snowfall have continued in the region from past two weeks.

AZAD KASHMIR (Dunya News) – Tourists are facing immense difficulties as heavy snowfall and rain have caused roads blockage in upper areas of Azad Kashmir.

According to details, intermittent rain and snowfall have continued in the region from past two weeks, disrupting telephone lines. Neelum Valley, Rawalakot, Bagh and Haveli are also witnessing electricity outages.

Various linking roads are also blocked due to snow.

The locals have said that dearth of woods used to beat cold is also creating problems. They also demanded the local administration to clear the roads at earliest. 

The minimum temperature of -10°C was recorded in Gopas where the entire valley has been covered with white blanket.

According to Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), more rain-thunderstorm with snowfall over the hills is expected at scattered places of upper KP (Malakand, Hazara, Peshawar, Mardan divisions), upper Punjab (Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore divisions), Islamabad, upper FATA, Kashmir, while at isolated places of Makran division and Gilgit-Baltistan.

Very cold and dry weather is expected in other parts of the country.
