ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) lawyer Naeem Bokhari has concluded his arguments regarding the ownership of London flats and offshore companies by Sharif family highlighted in the Panama Papers.

A five-member larger bench headed by Justice Asif Saeed Khosa resumed the case hearing. Other judges in the bench include Justice Ejaz Afzal Khan, Justice Gulzar Ahmed, Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed and Justice Ejazul Ahsan.

While presenting his arguments, Naeem Bukhari claimed that there is contradiction between statements of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his son Hussain Nawaz.

He questioned that whether a barrier certificate of offshore company be equated with prize bond.

Bukhari asked whether is it possible that person possessing certificate becomes owner of company.

As per new law, it is mandatory for person to inform custodian of company about possession of certificates, said Bukhari.

Bukhari stated that as per legal term dependent is a person who relies on another, especially a family member, for financial support.

On this, Justice Azmat grilled Naeem Bukhari over repeating old arguments and directed him to continue his remarks if he has something new to say.

Justice Azmat Saeed remarked that there are no documents pertaining to direct inclusion of Nawaz Sharif in Panama Papers rather an offshore company bought Mayfair flats in 1996 and 1993.

Bukhari said Nawaz Sharif bought nameless property for Maryam Nawaz. Upon which, Justice Ejaz Afzal asked Bukhari to present solid evidence pertaining to nameless property.

‘QATARI PRINCE WAS LIKE RESCUE 1122’

During the case proceedings, Awami Muslim League (AML) chief Sheikh Rasheed expressed that Maryam Nawaz at one end had no source of income while on the other end she was the wealthiest woman.

He further stated that Maryam Nawaz was dependent on Nawaz Sharif contrary to the claims of Sharif family.

He also alleged Nawaz Sharif of being directly involved in the Panama Papers case.

“Qatari prince was like a rescue 1122 for Nawaz Sharif,” stated the AML leader while referring to a letter sent by Qatari prince in support of the premier in the case.

After the conclusion of arguments by PTI counsel, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s lawyer Makhdoom Ali Khan has resumed his arguments.
