Police officials vow to resist proposed Civil Administration Ordinance 2016.
LAHORE (Daily Dunya) - Thirty one retired Inspector Generals (IGS) on Thursday staunchly rejected the proposed Punjab Civil Administration Ordinance 2016, terming it as civil admiration’s crude move to curtail police’ authority.
In-service and former police officials, in a joint statement, vowed to resist proposed ordinance at all forums including court of laws. Statement further narrated that restored peace in Punjab could be scrapped by imposition of proposed ordinance.
They further alleged that this ordinance is in conflict with Police Order 2002 and is an attempt to subvert the later one.
The serving officials further say the revival of the DCs with law and order responsibility will have negative impact on local government institutions and the already fragmented criminal justice system.
Former IGs pledged Chief Minister Punjab to take notice of situation.
