Transgender community's dance banned in Buner

Any event having dance or singing by transgender people will be prohibited in the KP district

BUNER (Daily Dunya) – According to reports provided on Thursday, a ban has been imposed on singing and dancing of the transgender community in Buner district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), reported Dunya News.

Though the Buner district of Malakand division comprises of four sub-divisions, only the Khadokhail division has been subjected to the restriction.

The notification of this ban was issued by Khadokhail assistant commissioner. It declares the prohibition of programs in which transgender people perform dance and sing.

“These programs affect region’s peace”, states the notification. It further elaborates that fights often take place due to these shows.

The reason of prohibition is mentioned that due to the display of arms as well as drinking, the dance shows cause disturbance in the region.
