With claims of gathering one million people, PTI could not find candidates for nine deputy mayors

LAHORE: (Dunya News) – Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz’s (PML-N) Mubashir Javed has on Saturday been elected unopposed mayor of Lahore. However, with claims of holding public gatherings of one million people, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) couldn’t find even candidates for nine seats of deputy mayors. PML-N’s Lord Mayor candidate Colonel (r) Mubashir Javed will take oath on December 31, reported Dunya News.

PTI candidate Afif Siddiqui failed to complete his panel and nomination papers for 9 seats of deputy mayors could not be filed. Returning Officer therefore rejected the documents on technical grounds.

PTI had 12 chairmen elected from Lahore but even the proposers and supporters didn’t turn up at the time of nomination, due to which PML-N’s mayor candidate and nine deputy mayors got elected unopposed. The winners include Mushtaq Mughal, Waseem Qadir, Nazir Swati, Mehr Mehmood Ahmed, Ejaz Hafeez, Mian Tariq, Muhammad Bilal, Haji Allah Rakha and Rao Shahabuddin.
