He used to visit Balochistan every month over priorities, said COAS in farewell visit

QUETTA (Dunya News) – Chief of the Army Staff (COAS), General Raheel Sharif has said that the people of Balochistan have shunned terrorists who were externally funded as institutions of Pakistan are determined to take war on terror to its end.

Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) reported that army chief addressed soldiers during his farewell visit to Southern Command Quetta.

During his speech, the army chief paid rich tribute to sacrifices of personnel of Frontier Corps (FC) and Southern Command of Pakistan Army in war on terror. He said that the people of Balochistan helped the state to cripple network of terrorists.

General Sharif said that situation in Balochistan was now against extremists and their facilitators. As Chief of the Army Staff, assistance of provincial governments, restructuring of departments and development were among his priorities, General Sharif said.

The outgoing chief said that he used to visit Balochistan every month because of those priorities.

He lauded Frontier Works Organisation (FWO) and Southern Command for construction of 1,000 Kilometre-long road in areas with tough terrain in the province. China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and Gwadar Port would push the province in an era of progress and prosperity, he said.

General Sharif’s retirement after three-year tenure as the leader of Pakistan military is scheduled in November in light of which he started his farewell visits on Monday.
