Summary PTI's lawyer said he was not ready to fight the case any further after media campaign against him
ISLAMABAD: (Dunya News) – Senior lawyer Hamid Ali Khan has on Friday declined from further pursuing the Panama Leaks case for Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). He said that he couldn’t fight the case after negative campaign against him on media, reported Dunya News.
Talking to media, Hamid Khan said that he had no differences with PTI and chairman Imran Khan still wanted him to plead the case but the media had already started doling out verdicts. He said that he couldn’t fight with media.
Hamid Khan added that he hadn’t declined from advising PTI on the case. He also stated that he didn’t deem it necessary to answer Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif’s daughter Maryam Nawaz’s comments.
“I have done the basic work and only the arguments remain now. Whoever pursues this case, will take it ahead from this point”, Khan said.
Complaining about the attitude of the media, former President of Pakistan Bar Council said that he was disappointed in media’s behaviour. He said that minute-to-minute commentary was being run on the media. “Even the people who have nothing to do with law are commenting. I have never seen such environment”, he said. He added that national dailies today also ‘misbehaved’ a lot.
PTI spokesperson said that Hamid Khan contacted Imran Khan and expressed his concern over the campaign against him in the media. According to the spokesperson, Hamid Khan told party chairman that it wasn’t possible for him anymore to continue assisting in the case.
Sources told that senior lawyer Babar Awan was expected to replace Hamid Khan as PTI’s lawyer in Panama Papers case.
