54 killed, 110 injured in attack on shrine in Balochistan's Hub

State of emergency has been declared in Civil Hospital

LASBELA (Dunya News) – At least 54 people have been killed and over 110 injured in a blast in Shah Noorani shrine in Hub city of Tehsil Hub.

Reportedly, large number of children and women were present in the shrine when a bomb went off.

Rescue activities started roughly after three hours as 50 army soldiers, two teams of medics arrived at the site. According to media cell of the army, two copters are airbourne from Quetta and will help in relief activites once attempt landing. 

Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) reported that reinforcements were dispatched from Karachi and were on the way to Hub. The media cell stated that the army chief has directed for immediate aid of the wounded.

State of emergency has been declared in different hospitals in Karachi as the wounded are to be shifted there. No ambulance was available initially as the shrine is remotely situated.

Commissioner of Kalat, Muhammad Hashim has said that the nearest hospital is at a distance of at least 2.5 hours.

Islamic State of Iraq ad Syria (ISIS) has claimed responsibility of the attack.

Home Ministry of Balochistan has set up a control room to monitor the situation.

Earlier this year, 71 lives were lost in an attack in Quettas Civil Hospital in August. Another 72 people were killed in cold blood in Lahore in March.

Chief of the Army Staff (COAS), General Raheel Sharif and Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif have agreed many a times in the past that backbone of terror outfits was broken’.
