Late Abdul Rashid swore in Muhammad Ali Jinnah as the first Governor-General of Pakistan

ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) – November 6, 2016 marks the 35th death anniversary of first Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP), Sir Mian Abdul Rashid who was appointed by founder, Muhammad Ali Jinnah.

Late Abdul Rashid has the owner of swearing in Muhammad Ali Jinnah as the first Governor-General of Pakistan on August 15, 1947.

He was later appointed as the first Chief Justice of Pakistan on June 27, 1949 and retired in 1954 on June 25.

The late jurist started practicing law in 1913 in Lahore and served as the Advocate of the Punjab Government from 1927 to 1931. He then was appointed as the Chief Justice of Lahore High Court in 1933.

The legal philosopher, who was born to a high-end family in Baghbanpura of Lahore on June 29, 1889 studied at Forman Christian College before going to Christ’s College, Cambridge.
