Smoggy weather condition likely to continue till December: Met Office
Citizens have been advised to exercise precautionary measures.
LAHORE (Web Desk) - Chief Meteorologist Mohammad Riaz on Friday told APP that the prevailing smoggy weather condition is likely to continue in the months of November and December with light and heavy waves across the province of Punjab.
According to Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), due to stable atmospheric conditions, smoggy conditions are likely to persist. A shallow westerly wave will produce light to moderate rain in northeast Punjab and upper KP and snow over mountains bringing little relief.
“Less than average rainfall is expected in November-December, therefore smog, fog and mist will remain prevalent phenomena. Higher concentration of smog is expected in urban areas,” the Met Office predicted.
Separately, the prevailing spell of smog has landed more than 1200 people in the hospitals across Punjab.
Smog containing the pollutants may cause eye and throat irritations as well as difficulty in breathing. Citizens have been advised to exercise precautionary measures.
