ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Supreme Court (SC) on Thursday has declared all the petitions filed over Panama Leaks issue as admissible.
During the hearing, Maryram Nawaz, Hassan Nawaz and Hussain Nawaz were directed to submit their formal replies in the case till Monday.
Sources told that chief of Awami Muslim League (AML) Sheikh Rasheed presented his Terms of References (ToRs) in the court on which the larger bench headed by Anwar Zaheer Jamali made it clear that the court will not be bound to the terms provided by parties rather it will be for the bench to fix the terms of reference for the commission.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif submited his written reply denying possession of any offshore company. He told the court that he pays tax according to law and that none of his children is dependent on him.
The premier said he is eligible as per 62, 63 sections of the Constitution as he had already declared all his assets in 2013.
On Tuesday, the court ordered opposition parties including Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI), Jamaat-i-Islami, Awami Muslim League (AML) to submit ToRs for the formation of commission to investigate Panama Leaks revelations.
After which, PTI chief Imran Khan announced that Islamabad lockdown would be replaced by a thanksgiving rally at Parade Ground.
Khan’s latest challenge to Sharif’s government is based on leaked documents from the Panama-based Mossack Fonseca law firm that appear to show the prime minister’s daughter and two sons owned offshore holding companies registered in the British Virgin Islands and used them to buy properties in London.
