PMD has revealed that moderate level of smog is expected to persist in the next five days or so

LAHORE (Dunya News) – The atmosphere was shrouded by an intense blanket of smog on Wednesday morning resulting in transforming Lahore into an apparent ‘smog city’.

Smog is a specific type of visible air pollutant being mainly composed of nitrogen oxides, sulfur oxides, ozone and some other chemical particles. The main causation of smog can be coal emissions, vehicular emissions, industrial emissions and agricultural and forest fires.

Smoke from fireworks can be the worst form of air pollution as it may contain traces of heavy metals and toxic chemicals. Smoke from the combustion of fireworks can be harmful for people with asthma and multiple chemical sensitivity (MCS).

Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has revealed that moderate level of smog is expected to persist in the next five days or so.

With the air quality being extremely worse, healthcare devised high level of precautionary measures to cope up with the vulnerability to the atmosphere and to lessen the possible uptick of viral infections and respiratory problems.

Moreover, traffic jams and fear of accidents may also exist as smog makes the visibility low.
