Kashmir's 'struggle' is legitimate, says Nawaz in UNGA address
PM Nawaz talked about Kashmir issue and dialogue with India
NEW YORK (Dunya News) - Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said on Wednesday that Kashmiris had to face atrocities and barbarism from India, which made Burhan Wani, the face of freedom movement, reported Dunya News.
PM Nawaz was addressing United Nations (UN) general assembly in New York as he said that Pakistan supports Kashmiris right of self determination. He also said that dialogue between Pakistan and India can bring out the best solution.
PM Nawaz said that Pakistan fully supports the demand of the Kashmiri people for self-determination, as promised to them by several Security Council resolutions. Their struggle is a legitimate one for liberation from alien occupation.
PM also offered India that Pakistan is ready to talk on all forums so that they can avoid a competition of weapons. He said that a dialogue would be beneficial for both countries.
Nawaz Sharif said that Pakistan has been affected the most by terrorism as thousands of soldiers, civilians sacrificed their lives. He also called Zarb-e-Azb the most successful anti-terrorism campaign.
He said that pellet guns were used against innocent Kashmiris, which blinded men, women and children. He demanded from UN that India should be asked to withdraw forces from Kashmir and also announced that Pakistan would provide UN evidences of India’s atrocities.
He appreciated Ban Ki-moon’s statement about solution of Kashmir issue and also asked for it to be solved according to UN resolution, through plebiscite. PM Nawaz also demanded fact finding committee to investigate Indian atrocities in Kashmir.
PM also said that poverty and other problems are increasing in the world despite all the developments. He added that there can be no peace without justice. He said that terrorism is a global issue and should be dealt as one.
PM Nawaz said that use of force is not solution of problem in Afghanistan and peace can prevail in Afghanistan only through dialogue. He said that Pakistan is playing part for peace process in Afghanistan.
He also added that Pakistan is very much eligible to be member of the Nuclear Suppliers Group (NSG).
