Expect justice from judiciary, NAB chairman did nothing against Panama Leaks in 5 months, Imran says
LAHORE (Dunya News) – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf s (PTI) Ehtesab rally on Saturday has started from Shahdra where PTI chairman Imran Khan addressed the party workers and supporters. He said that Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif was ruining Pakistan just for saving his own skin. Imran was accompanied by senior party leaders including Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar, Mian Mehmood ur-Rasheed, Jahangir Tareen and others.
Addressing the rally Imran Khan said that this protest was important for the future of Pakistan. "Rulers are destroying the country," said Imran Khan. He said that the country would go bankrupt if Prime Minister continued to steal people s money. "Prime Minister is accountable in a democratic system," said the PTI chairman.
Speaking to the participants of the rally on his container, Imran Khan said, “PTI was seeking answers from Prime Minister Nawaz over his alleged corruption and Panama Leaks for the last five months".
PTI Chairman Imran Khan said that corrupt leaders would corrupt the country s institutions. Imran Khan accused Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) chairman saying that he sent millions to Dubai illegaly. He said, "we are not pressurising Nawaz Sharif, we are pressurising state institutions to hold Nawaz Sharif accountable".
Referring to Minister of Defence Khawaja Asif, PTI chairman stated that Asif used to tell PM that people would forget Panama Leaks very soon. Moreover, Imran Khan also criticised Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) saying that till when the ECP would remain a B-team of Pakistan Muslim League - Nawaz (PML-N).
Imran Khan reached Bhati Chowk and said that unemployment is on peak but leaders are buying properties outside Pakistan. He added that country cannot progress without getting rid of corruption and people would not invest inside Pakistan if there would be corruption.

Khan will lead the rally while leaders of other political parties including PML-Q, PAT, PPP and AML will accompany him on his container. After starting at Shahdara, the rally will pass through Bhatti Gate, Nasir Bagh and GPO Chowk and will reach its destination at the Charing Cross on Mall Road.

Imran Khan and leaders of other political parties will address the gathering at the Charing Cross area which has been blocked by provincial government after placing containers.

On the other hand, local administration has also tightened up the security of the area by deploying police personnel. The officers have been directed to remain alert during the rally.


Meanwhile, PTI leader Jahangir Tareen asked the local government to clear the way by keeping aside unnecessary containers. He said that the participants would demonstrate in peaceful manner.
Jahangir Tareen said that we will not allow anyone to create fear among the people over security concerns. He also welcomed people from far flung areas who have come to attend PTI rally in Lahore.
Khan had arrived in his Lahore’s Zaman Park residence on Friday where while talking to the media, he said that accountability of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was essential for elimination of corruption.
Imran Khan is pursuing pressure tactics against the government ever since Panama Papers published a report naming almost 140 different leaders of the world including Nawaz Sharif s daughter and two sons for owning offshore companies.
International Consortium of Investigative Journalists studied documents leaked from the database of a law firm in Panama known as Mossack Fonseca.

PTI among other political parties demanded the government to launch investigations as they claimed offshore companies were used by the premier’s family to evade taxes and stash wealth abroad.
A committee, comprising of members of both the government and the opposition, was established on premier’s offer to the joint opposition however, Terms of References have not been finalised after several meetings of the committee for probe in the Supreme Court.
