August 22 was the worst day for MQM amongst all: Dr Farooq Sattar

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – National Assembly on Friday has unanimously approved resolution condemning speech of Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s founder, Altaf Hussain in which he raised anti-Pakistan slogans and provoked the political activists.

Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit Baltistan Chaudhry Muhammad Barjees Tahir presented the resolution.

The resolution stated that Hussain directed political workers to storm offices of ARY News and Samaa News in Karachi after anti-state slogans were chanted in the gathering which he was addressing to from London.

The resolution further reiterated allegiance with national institutions against which Hussain had given numerous statements in the recent past amid allegations of working for Research and Analysis Wing of India.

While addressing participants of the session, Dr Farooq Sattar, leader of Pakistan MQM said that after Altaf Hussain detached himself with Pakistan, MQM detached itself with its leader.

Dr Sattar said that the party workers and appointed members unconditionally love Pakistan and stand against any hatred towards it. Had MQM given a chance, it would have moved a resolution in the National Assembly, he said.

The Pakistan chief of the organisation said that August 22 was the worst day for MQM amongst all.

On August 22, Altaf Hussain delivered a speech to local workers at one of the offices of the political party in Karachi after which they stormed media offices and vandalized the property.

Their clash with the police, that ensued, claimed a life and two persons were wounded.

Senior members of the party detached themselves with Hussain within a few days after the speech.

Dr Farooq Sattar, the then deputy convener of Pakistan’s rabita committee of the party assumed charge as the chief of the chapter and urged that he be called the chief of Pakistan’s MQM.

After MQM announced to move a resolution against party’s founder, Wasay Jalil, a member of London’s rabita committee stated that no resolution against Hussain was acceptable.

Hussain has been living in self-imposed exile in London for over two decades and used to take care of party affairs, allegedly until detachment, through coordination between rabita committees of London and Pakistan.

Pakistan chapter on Thursday unveiled new flag that neither bore resemblance with the previous one nor gave even a slightest hint of affiliation with founder of the party.

On the other hand, dozens of MQM offices that were built illegally have been razed across Sindh and headquarters near Mukka Chowk remains sealed since August 22.
