Absence of Indian finance minister will place no impact on meeting, says Ishaq Dar

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The eighth two-day South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) Conference meeting of finance ministers took place in Islamabad on Friday as SAARC members agreed to remove hindrances in bilateral trade and improve travel facilities, reported Dunya News.

It was stated in the joint declaration issued at the conclusion of the session that SAARC members agreed to make ease in communications through roads, railways and aerial travel whereas visa policies for businessmen shall also be relaxed along with measures taken to avoid multiple taxation.

Federal Finance Minister Ishaq Dar stated that SAARC members cannot have a common currency, further adding that SAARC countries intended to improve their economies, customs facilities and banking systems.

Dar further stated that the absence of Indian finance minister shall have no impact on the meeting, further adding that the countries that participated in the conference were more important than the individuals themselves.
