Fire under control at Karachi shopping mall

Goods worth millions of rupees were reduced to ashes in the incident.

KARACHI (Web Desk) – After four hours of struggle, firefighters have managed to extinguish blaze at a shopping mall in Defence area of Karachi on Saturday morning, Dunya News reported.

Reportedly, fire suddenly broke out late night at the shopping mall situated on Korangi Road in Defence Phase – I.



Firefighters from Cantonment Board and DHA arrived at the scene and struggled for four hours to bring the fire under control.

Goods worth millions of rupees were gutted in the incident, however; no life loss was reported.

Chief Fire Office Tehseen Ahmed told reporters that the building structure is substandard and fire engulfed first and second floor of the plaza due to absence of fire extinguishers.

On the other hand, the affected shopkeepers protested against the authorities, alleging that their shops have reduced to ashes due to late arrival of firefighters.



Meanwhile, Chief Fire Officer claimed that shopkeepers manhandled him and other staff members on their arrival.
