PM vows to take every possible step to facilitate stranded Pakistani workers in Saudi Arabia
Baitul Maal has been ordered by the premier to release funds
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has ordered Pir Syed Sadaruddin Shah Rashidi, federal minister for Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development to fly down to Saudi Arabia’s Riyadh and monitor relief activities for the stranded Pakistanis, reported Thursday.
The development has come in after Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif took notice of embassy’s negligence towards taking care of the nationals trapped there.
Ambassador in Saudi Arabia, Manzoorul Haq has said that cash aid is being distributed among Pakistanis who are stranded in Saudi Arabia’s Dammam while Saudi authorities have assured to get them their salaries from the employers as well.
Spokesperson for the Prime Minister said that Nawaz Sharif has ordered Baitul Maal to release funds for the cause while Ministry of Foreign Affairs is tasked with presentation of reports on daily basis.
The Prime Minister has vowed to take every possible step to facilitate annoyed Pakistani nationals in Dammam.
On the other hand, the stranded nationals have complained that nothing is being done on the ground-level and empty rhetoric is the way of the government.
Embassy officials provide them with a few bags of rice weighing a kilogram each which are not enough for around 240 of them, they said.
However, Dunya News is continuing to report the developments in the issue which is why Islamabad moved for help after telling them to wait for two months.
Pakistani workers have been trapped in Dammam for more than two months after their iqamas expired. They were not given monthly salaries due to financial hang-ups of their employer, M/s. Saad Contracting and Construction Company.
