Polling for eight reserved seats shall take place on July 28: Election Commission

MUZAFFARABAD (Dunya News) – Election Commission on Saturday announced the schedule for the final phase of the Azad Kashmir elections. Polling for eight reserved seats shall take place on July 28, reported Dunya News.

Polling shall take place for five reserved seats for women, whereas the other three seats shall be distributed among a technocrat, an ulema, a cleric and an overseas citizen.

Election Commission shall accept nomination papers for the elections between 9am to 2pm on July 24 whereas scrutiny of nominated candidates shall take place on July 25.

Appeals against the nominated candidates shall be made on July 26 whereas the Chief Election Commissioner shall announce his verdict over these appeals in the evening of July 26.

The candidates would be allowed to take their nomination papers back on July 27 whereas polling on these reserved seats shall take place the next day (July 28).

The 49-member legislative assembly of Azad Kashmir shall be completed after polling on these eight reserved seats takes place on July 28.

Election Commission representative Tariq Butt stated that Azad Kashmir President will summon a session of the assembly for the election of a new Speaker once all the members of the assembly get elected.
