ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Supreme Court (SC) on Monday granted one-week respite to the petitioner to submit a written reply over his review appeal regarding Kalabagh dam construction.

The hearing was headed by a three-member bench headed by Chief Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali.

The lawyer AK Dogar said that the court is taking the decision without hearing his  stance.

He said that the court has dismissed the issue on technical grounds instead of examining it in light of public interest however; the judge can give orders to parliament in case of public interest.

Justice Gulzar remarked that Kalabagh dam issue has been politicized with three provinces not in favour of its construction.

He said that the court cannot announce its verdict on the decisions of parliament.

Chief Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali stated that the court will not interfere in policy matters as no one’s right is undermined whether the dam is constructed or not.
