Government announces four holidays for Eid-ul-Fitr

With two weekly off days, the government employees will enjoy six holidays.

ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) – The Ministry of Interior has notified four public holidays from July 5th (Tuesday) to July 8th (Friday) on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr. 

However, with two weekly off days, the government employees will enjoy six holidays.

Eid-ul-Fitr, the religious festival of Muslims, is celebrated on the first of Shawwal according to the Muslim Hijri calendar, marking the end of the holy fasting month of Ramazan.

Eid in Pakistan is likely to fall on July 6, the Director General of the Pakistan Meteorological Department said.

Speaking to Dunya News, DG Met Dr Ghulam Rasool said that the moon is expected to appear on 29th of Ramazan. The moon will be first sighted at Balochistan’s coastal areas including Pasni and Jiwani.

During the last few days of Ramazan, it is customary to prepare for Eid al-Fitr. Families go shopping for new clothes as everyone is expected to wear something new or look very smart during this holy time.

The event is one of the centerpieces of the Muslim calendar. It features large public group prayers and extended family gatherings.
