Jilted woman throws acid on man in Multan

Sadaqat suffered serious burns and was rushed to the Nishtar Hospital in Multan.

MULTAN (Web Desk) – A man was critically injured when a woman allegedly threw acid on him for rejecting her marriage proposal in Makhdoom Rasheed area of Multan.

According to police, Momal alias Shimli was in relationship with Sadaqat for the last four years. On his refusal to marry her, she called Sadaqat to her house and attacked him with acid.


Police have recovered the plastic can in which acid was stored.


Sadaqat suffered serious burns and was rushed to the Nishtar Hospital in Multan. Doctors told that his body has suffered 50% burns.

On the other hand, the accused claimed that Sadaqat had married her using fake marriage papers. She attacked him with acid in ‘defense‘ when he was torturing her after forcefully entering her house.

Momal will be presented before the local magistrate today.


The accused has been detained at Makhdoom Rasheed Police Station.


Acid attacks are one the most common form of violence against women in Pakistan but such attacks against men are rare.

Between 150 and 400 cases of acid attacks are reported in the country every year. As many as 80 per cent of the victims are women.

Such attacks are not used to kill the victim but to cause disfigurement, and can often cause blindness, hearing loss and physical and mental pain.
