General Raheel visits North and South Waziristan, spends day with troops
General Raheel inaugurated various developmental projects in the region as well.
RAWALPINDI (Dunya News) – Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif paid visit to North and South Waziristan and spent the entire day with troops and the tribesmen, reported Dunya News on Tuesday.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) department, General Raheel inspected the developmental work done in regards to the rehabilitation of the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs).
Army chief lauded the resilience and courage of the tribal people against the war on terror. He addressed the tribal people during his visit and stated that the terrorists will not be given a chance to gain strength in the area again, adding that Pakistan army will not leave the region until terrorism is completely wiped out.
During his visit to the frontlines in North and South Waziristan, Army chief said that Operation Zarb-e-Azb was launched against all sorts of terrorists whereas terrorist hideouts have been destroyed indiscriminately. He added that the operation is still being carried out in certain areas and is in its final phase.
General Raheel inaugurated various developmental projects in the region as well. General Raheel inaugurated the 72km long Miran Shah-Rizmik Makin two-sided road which is part of the economic corridor. He also inaugurated the Sheikh Fatima bint Mubarak Hospital in South Waziristan that has 100 beds.
