Another group of Kissan Ittehad's farmers protest outside Punjab Assembly
Those of them who have fertilized arid pieces of land should be given proprietary rights
LAHORE (Dunya News) – Group of farmers belonging to Pakistan Kissan Ittehad has launched a protest on the Mall on Monday for their demands.
The protest caused a traffic-block as soon as the protesting farmers came on the Mall leaving footpaths. Situation got tensed after travelers entered an argument with the protesters.

Farmers beat arguing passerbys
Kissan Ittehad’s members have demanded the government to end sales tax on fertilizers and lessen power tariff for water pumps. The protesters have also demanded check on imposition of prices set by the government for imported crops.
Farmers are of the opinion that those of them who have fertilized arid pieces of land should be given proprietary rights.
The government is further demanded to seek farmers’ recommendations to put together an agricultural policy.

A violent clash
It should be noted here that a group belonging to Kissan Ittehad had staged a sit-in outside Punjab Assembly last week that continued for over three days.

Successful negotiations with the government prompted the faction to end sit-in. The protest was a joint demonstration by Kissan Ittehad and employees of Punjab Rural Support Programme (PRSP).
The Health Department announced to continue with its contract with as many as 5,500 employees of Punjab Rural Support Programme.
