Sindh govt turns blind eye to garbage heaps outside Quaid's residence

Sindh CM says to clean up city's garbage is not his responsibility.

KARACHI (Dunya News) – Heaps of garbage outside the residence of the country’s founding father Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah in Kharadar raise a number of questions regarding the efficiency of the local administration and the agenda of certain political parties to keep the city clean. However, at the same time, Sindh Chief Minister (CM) Syed Qaim Ali Shah states that it is not his responsibility to clean up the city’s garbage.

The piles of garbage present in various areas of the city give the impression that the sweepers of the district municipal council do not go to work for weeks. The non-disposal of garbage for days is resulting in the increased number of health related issues in the public whereas the government seems to be unconcerned about the matter.

Despite the fact that the by-elections took place in the city a few months back, the citizens complain that the public representatives do not care at all about the issues faced by the people as the local population is utmost irritated with the large amount of garbage lying everywhere in the city.

Efforts were made to contact representatives of Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) over the issue however the cell-phones of certain members of the organisation were switched off thus no connection was established.
