Large wads of cash recovered from Balochistan Finance Secretary's residence

Notification regarding suspension of Mushtaq Raisani has been issued; Finance Adviser resigns.

QUETTA (Dunya News) – National Accountability Bureau s (NAB) team Friday raided the residence of Balochistan Finance Secretary Mushtaq Ahmed Raisani at 6 in the morning. Sensitive documents, cash worth Rs 630 million and gold worth Rs 40 million was recovered from his residence, reported Dunya News.

NAB s team raided Raisani s residence after he was apprehended earlier in the day. Bags filled with cash, gold, foreign currency and sensitive documents were recovered from his residence. Three cash counting machines had to be called in by the team from the authorities to count the large wads of cash found at his home. 

Local and foreign currency worth 630 million rupees was taken into custody by the team whereas fake property documents worth millions were also recovered during the raid. The team took away all the evidence collected from the scene for further investigation. 

Meanwhile Balochistan s Finance Advisor Mir Khalid Langove has also resigned under the circumstances. 

Earlier in the day, NAB raided the office of the Provincial Finance Department and arrested several officers inclduing Mushtaq Raisani. The officers protested and also chanted slogans against NAB.

According to latest reports, Balochistan government has dismissed Mushtaq Raisani as Finance Secretary. Akbar Hussain Durrani, Secretary Interior, has been given additional charge of the department of Finance. Meanwhile, the Finance Advisor Mir Khalid Lango has announced to resign from his post. He stated that he made this decision on the orders of his leader in order to ensure transparent inquiry of the matter, adding that “no sort of allegation has been leveled against me”.

Lango added that the provincial government shall facilitate NAB in regards to the investigation of the case. He stated that the government is against the “cancer of corruption”.

Furthermore, Balochistan government representative stated that the government has expressed utmost faith in NAB and other democratic institutions.
