PAT holds rally in Gujranwala, announces protest in Islamabad

Cannot let any party arrange rally or sit-in at Abpara Chowk, says Islamabad's administration.

GUJRANWALA (Dunya News) – Voicing its anger over the issue of Panama Leaks and offshore companies, Pakistan Awami Tehreek held a rally in Gujranwala Friday. PAT has also announced to hold a protest at Islamabad’s Aabpara Chowk. 

Participants chanted slogans against the government during the rally led by Khurram Nawaz Gandapur.

Meanwhile PAT has also announced to protest and stage sit-in against Panama Leaks at Aabpara Chowk while PAT chief Dr. Tahir-ul-Qadri will address the rally through telephone.

The district administration stated that section 144 has been imposed in the city and that the administration cannot let any party arrange rally or sit-in at Abpara Chowk due to inconvenience to the residents.

On the other hand, PAT administration declared that the venue will remain the same at any cost and the government should refrain causing hurdles.

PAT also stated that according to the constitution every citizen has the right to protest peacefully and Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif has been arranging rallies in every city while section 144 has been imposed on others.

Leaders are hiding their crimes before the very section and corrupt leaders of Panama Leaks does not sound good teaching law and ethics to the people, PAT spokesperson added.
