Commissioner Shah said that revision of the price has come in with consensus

KARACHI (Dunya News) – Rising milk price has been curtailed setting per litre amount at Rs 80 for the locals after authorities deliberated over the issue for around 14 hours, Dunya News reported Thursday.

A meeting was called at the Commissioner House after people complained about unaffordable milk price in several areas. The meeting was chaired by Commissioner himself, Syed Asif Haider Shah.

Participants of the meeting included representatives of dairy farms, whole sale and retail associations and district coordination officers (DCO).

According to the notification issued after the meeting, retailers will sell the product for Rs 80 per litre. Wholesalers are liable to not go above Rs 75.35 while dairy farmers will sell milk for Rs 71 per litre.

On Tuesday, sellers had unnecessarily hiked the price upon which the Commission came in action without delay and summoned the meeting.

While talking to the media earlier, the Commissioner had stated that milk price is an issue that has been intermittently going on for around four years. He said that all the stake holders in the matter had been taken in confidence and the then forthcoming meeting would reap results.
