LAHORE (Dunya News) – Two violent incidents against polio workers in different areas were reported Wednesday.

A worker named Umer Khan, along with a colleague was vaccinating children in Rajgarh area near Chauburji when an unidentified motorcyclist stopped him and argued.

Miscreant aimed and shot Khan in his leg before fleeing the crime scene.

The injured vaccinator was shifted to Mayo Hospital for treatment. Operations Wing DIG Dr Haider Ashraf, while talking to the media said that an investigation has been launched in the attack.

Separately, In Naseerabad police precincts, a local named Shakeel entered an argument with a polio worker. Police took the harasser in custody and launched a probe.

Interference in polio workers’ routine is rare however, few cases were reported in the 2013 and 2014.
