PTI's intraparty election system appears to be crucially flawed

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Dunya News on Saturday highlighted a crucial flaw of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) methodology to recruit members through the intraparty elections, thanks to which, even Obama, Modi and Amitabh Bachan also made it.

According to details, PTI’s intraparty elections have become controversial once again. The flawed model let the impersonators of United States president Barak Obama, Indian prime minister Narendra Modi and Amitabh Bachchan register as party’s members.

Obama’s registered vote number is PKBF 2667 whereas Modi and Bachchan have also been registered as members through forged identity card number.

As per Dunya News’ investigation, Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has permitted every individual to get as many as 5 SIMs registered in their names while PTI takes one phone number as a unique identifier. This means one individual can carry as many as 5 identities in PTI’s system.

It merits mentioning here that even votes will be cast through the SMS in intraparty elections which raise even more concerns about the system.

Meanwhile, the PTI election commission sources have clarified that ‘objectionable’ voters will be filtered out within a month after the membership drive is over.
