Claimant stated the price hike would only compound to the problems of common man

LAHORE (Dunya News) – A petition pertaining to challenge increase in prices of medicines on Saturday submitted in Lahore High Court (LHC).

Advocate Ishtiaq Chaudhry filed a plea against increase in the medicines’ prices, stating that the pharmaceutical companies have raised the prices by 20 to 70 percent that has badly irked the general masses.

The claimant stated the price hike would only compound to the problems of common man. He further urged the court to annul the decision for the relief of the nation.

According to details, as many as six multinational pharmaceutical companies increased the prices of drugs by 15 per cent without getting approval from the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (Drap), leading the move to an artificial shortage of medicines.

On the other hand, some groups have also directed their staffers to retrieve unsold medicine stocks from the market and revise the prices.
