Nation salutes Bacha Khan University's lecturer Syed Hamid: Imran Khan
Khan stated that the PhD scholar was martyred having a pistol in his hand
LAHORE (Dunya News) – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan on Friday has stated that the nation salutes its hero, Assistant Professor Syed Hamid who was martyred in Charsadda attack.
The opposition party leader stated his respects through a social media platform. Khan stated that the PhD scholar was martyred having a pistol in his hand for the cause of protecting his pupils.
PTI chairman further stated that Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif should have returned to the country immediately following the attack.

34-year-old Assistant Professor Syed Hamid Hussain received his PhD degree from Brussels University of United Kingdom (UK).
Eyewitnesses said that the herolike lecturer instructed his students to take cover and not leave the room. Meanwhile, he rushed out of the class room and opened fire. However, according to a student he saw his teacher hit and die on the spot.
On January 20, four militants had stormed Bacha Khan University in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s (KP) Charsadda. The attack claimed 20 lives while one injured later succumbed to wounds in Peshawar’s Lady Reading Hospital taking the tally to 21.
Chief Minister (CM) Pervez Khattak cut his foreign tour and returned after learning about the news while provincial ministers reached the site as well.
Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif had directed the ministers who were touring different countries to return as soon as possible.
PTI chairman had paid a visit to the university and reviewed the security maintenance. While talking to the media, he lauded Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police for quick action.
Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif paid a visit to the Charsadda hospital and inquired about health conditions of the injured.
The Prime Minister had vowed a “ruthless” reaction to the attack.
