India wants Sri Lanka to purchase fighter jets from Russia
LAHORE (Dunya News) – India has criticised Sri Lanka’s move to buy JF-17 Thunder fighter jets from Pakistan, Sri Lankan media reported Tuesday.
Sri Lanka has shown interest in purchase of Pakistan-China collaboration, JF-17 Thunder aircrafts. India has strongly criticised the suspected trade.
JF-17 Thunder is cheaper than United States (US) fighter jets. Resultatnly, Sri Lanka is desirous of buying seven jets from Pakistan. Sri Lanka will be the first country to purchase JF-17s from Pakistan. Authorities have said that the order would be ready by the end of 2017.
On the other hand, India wants Sri Lanka to purchase fighter jets from Russia.
Earlier, the aircraft’s developers, Aviation Industry Corp of China and Pakistan Aeronautical Complex, signed a contract with an unidentified buyer on the sidelines of Dubai airshow.

About 1,100 exhibitors from more than 60 countries participated in the Dubai airshow.
On December 28 2015, Spokesperson for the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) said that Pakistan Aeronautical Complex (PAC) has achieved its annual production goal.
In a statement issued, the spokesperson stated that authorities have decided to increase aeronautical complex’s production capabilities.
The complex has handed over 16th JF-17 Thunder aircraft to the air force in the ongoing year
