He is not being provided with necessary facilities, said Dr former minister during hearing

KARACHI (Dunya News) – Indictment of former petroleum minister and Sindh Higher Education Commission Chairman Dr Asim Hussain was adjourned today in terror facilitation case, Dunya News reported Wednesday.

Anti-terrorism court (ATC) has issued non-bailable arrest warrants of Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s (MQM) mayoral candidate Waseem Akhtar, Anees Qaimkhani and Pakistan People’s Party’s (PPP) Abdul Qadir Patel among other ‘fugitives’ in Dr Asim Hussain’s case.

The terror accused was shifted to the ATC amid tight security where the alleged terror facilitator filed plea seeking replacement of prosecutor. Dr Asim’s counsels filed their advocacy licenses in the court.

The ATC ordered former minister’s one of the counsels, Anwar Mansoor to file his license as well.

Among MQM’s Waseem Akhtar, Anees Qaim Khaqani and PPP’s Abdul Qadir, Usman Moazzam of Pasban’s warrants were also issued.

The ATC instructed the law enforcers to arrest MQM’s Rauf Siddique if he is not on bail.

The court ordered investigation officer to file copies of witnesses’ statements and the case within ten minutes.

The terror accused stated before the court that he is not being provided with necessary facilities.

Dr Asim is also facing a corruption case filed by National Accountability Bureau (NAB). On December 23, he was remanded in NAB’s custody by the accountability court for 14 days. He had pleaded the court to not hand him over to the NAB.
