Imran Khan meets Indian PM, discusses bilateral cricket series

NEW DELHI (Dunya News) – Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan met with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday where they discussed important matters including resumption of bilateral ties and cricket series, reported Dunya News. Both leaders appeared happy during meeting each other and discussion was held in a friendly atmosphere. 

On the question of cricket series between the two rival nations, Indian PM only replied with a vague smile. The PTI chief later commented that he does not know whether to decipher Modi s smile as an affirmation or a rejection.

In a television show held after the meeting, Khan stated that two neighbors cannot live in a constant state of war. He stated that all scenarios and situations which led to warming of relations should be owned and acknowledged while simultaneously thinking about the future. The PTI chief stated that discussions between the two states was the only way that peace could be achieved and differences could be resolved. 


To the question of resuming cricket ties, Modi only offered a smile


Speaking about the meeting, Khan stated that leadership of both countries should remove all barriers and meet with a broader vision for the future.

Khan also stated that he would completely support Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif for holding meaningful talks with India. He further stated that hate against Pakistan in India also needs to be ended. 

Answering a question, Khan stated that Doziers come and go but the process of dialogue should not be halted. In answer to another question the PTI chairman stated that the only way forward was by restoration of confidence between both nations.

During the interview, journalists bombarded the former crickter with questions. Responding to the questions, Khan stated that Pakistan s government and its army were on the same page and there was no chance of any martial law. Khan also stated that there is no acts of terrorism in Pakistan now.

Khan also talked freely about his party. He stated that PTI will come to power once the electoral process was rectified. Khan also informed the Indian neighbors that all political parties of Pakistan want good relations with India.   

In a statement issued by the Indian Prime Minister, Indian Foreign Ministry Spokesman stated Imran Khan met Narendra Modi at the request of the latter. Both leaders welcomed the progress made in the way of Pak-India relations.


Peace only possible through dialogue, says Imran


Key issues were discussed at the meeting on key views including Pak-India series. Imran Khan also extended an invitation to Modi to visit Pakistan at the occasion. Shah Mahmood Qureshi said that the meeting between Khan and Narendra Modi is highly welcome. Matters such as Indo-Pak ties and bilateral cricket series were discussed in length during the meeting which lasted 10 minutes, he said.
