KARACHI (Dunya News) – Former president Pervez Musharraf on Thursday said that meeting Israeli Foreign Minister during his tenure in Turkey was part of the strategy, Dunya News reported.
Talking exclusively on Dunya News’ programme On The Front with Kamran Shahid, the former president said Pakistan was clear on its stance not to recognize the State of Israel but the meeting was an effort towards breaking the ice and pushing towards resolution of Palestine conflict.
He said the leadership gets exposed if it’s weak, adding that there is a leadership crisis in Pakistan while the governance is weak.
Musharraf said it is because of the bad governance and weaknesses of the rulers that the people look to the army. He said Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif faces a lot of pressures, adding that he also faced several pressures during his time as the COAS.
The former president said countries form their policies as per atmospheres. He claimed whatever former military dictator Ziaul Haq did was in country’s interest.
Musharraf said there’s no threat of Martial Law in the country. Answering a question about Imran Khan, he said youngsters like Khan but he doesn’t consider him to be a mature leader.
Pervez Musharraf said PM Nawaz should meet with Indian counterpart but shouldn’t bow down. He said both met and talked in Paris as if a love affair between them was going on.
