LIVE - Results pouring in as polling for 2nd phase of LB polls in Punjab, Sindh ends

Polling will be held in 12 districts of Punjab and 14 districts of Sindh in the second phase.

LAHORE (Dunya News) - Voting for the second phase of local bodies elections in 12 districts of Punjab and 14 districts of Sindh started at 7:30 in the morning and concluded at 5:30 in the evening.

In the second phase of LB elections, polling will be held in Punjab’s Sargodha, Gujranwala, Sahiwal, Attock, Jhelum, Mianwali, Chiniot, Toba Tek Singh, Hafizabad, Mandi Bahauddin, Sheikhupura and Khanewal districts.

 In Sindh, polling has been held in Hyderabad, Tando Muhammad Khan, Tando Allahyar, Matiari, Dadu, Jamshoro, Badin, Thatta, Sajawal, Shaheed Benazirabad, Nausharo Feroz, Mirpur Khas, Umerkot and Tharparkar while the polling in Sanghar district has been postponed due to security reasons.

More than 20 million voters have exercised their right to vote in the second phase of LB elections in the two provinces.

Tight security arrangements have been made to ensure free, fair and transparent polling. Over 1,04,000 policemen have been deployed for security during second phase of the LB polls in Punjab and the Rangers personnel have been deployed outside and inside the polling stations while as many as 40 companies of Pakistan Army are monitoring the situation.

6:05 AM: Unofficial results of 1307 seats out of 1986 were announced in Sindh which saw PPP win the majorty of the seats followed by MQM. 

Hyderabad: PPP led the polls with 52 seats followed by MQM with 38 seats. Independent candidates won 3 seats while PTI managed a single seat. 

Shaheed Benazirabad PPP won all 163 seats.

Mirpurkhas: PPP won majority with 71 seats. MQM secured 27 seats while independent candidates won 6 seats. 

Badin: Zulfiqar Mirza group caused a major upset, winning 39 seats, PPP won 23, PML-N 5 while PML-F won single seat.

Naushero Feroze: PPP won 49 seats, PML-N won 22, indepedent candidates secured 16 while MQM managed to win 2 seats. 

Dadu: PPP won majority of seats with 48 seats, Awami Itehad won 17, independent candidates 2 while PPP Shaheed Bhutto won a single seat.

Jamshoro: PPP led the polls with 102 seats, independent candidates won 2 seats while MQM secured a single seat.

Mattiari: PPP won 81 seats, PML-F won 17, independent candidates won 5, PML-N won 2 while JUI-F and MQM managed to secure a single seat each.

Tandu Muhammad Khan: PPP secured 48 seats while independent candidates secured 6 seats. 

Tharparkar: PPP secured 41 seats while independent candidates and PML-N managed to secure 11 seats each.

Thatta: PPP won 55 seats, PML-N secured 14 seats.

Tandu Allah Yar: PPP won 60, independent candidates won 9 while PPP Shaheed Bhutto and MQM won 1 seat each.

Umarkot: PPP secured 66 seats, PTI and PML-F secured 6 seats each while independent candidates won 3 seats. PML-N managed to win a single seat.

Sajawal: PPP led the polls by winning 46 seats, PML-N won 3 seats while JUI-F managed to grab a single seat.  

5:30 AM: In Toba Tek Singh, PML-N led the polls with 93 seats, independent candidates managed to win 47 seats. PTI won 45 seats while Pakistan National Muslim League secured 6 seats. JI managed to grab a single seat. 

5:23 AM: In Sargodha, PML-N led the polls with 135 seats followed by independent candidates with 105 seats. PTI managed to secure 24 seats while PPP won 4 seats. Pakistan Falah Party won a single seat.

In Sheikhupura PML-N secured 174 seats followed by independent candidates with 76 seats. PTI won 32 seats while PPP secured 6 seats. JI managed 2 while PML-Q secured a single seat. 

5:15 AM: In Mandi Bahauddin independent candidates led the polls with 53 seats followed by 11 seats of PML-N. PTI managed 6 while PPP won 1 seat.

In Mianwali independent canidates led the polls with 54 seats followed by 34 for PTI. PML-N won 9 seats while JI secured a single seat.

In Sahiwal, PML-N won with 61 seats, PTI secured 26 seats while independent candidates managed to bag 23 seats. 

5:10 AM: In Hafizabad PML-N won majority of the seats i.e 58 while PTI and independent candidates managed 27 seats each.

In Jhelum PML-N led the polls with 77 seats. Independent candidates managed 33 while PTI managed to win 13 seats.

In Khanewal independent candidates secured 80 seats while PML-N won 58 seats. PTI secured 17 seats. 

4:50 AM: In Chiniot independent candidates lead the polls 81 seats, followed by PML-N  with 22 seats. PTI managed to grab 2 seats. 

4:33 AM: PML-N leads with 61 seats, independent candidattes win 46, PTI secures 17, PML-Q wins 14 while PPP wins 1 seat from Attock

4:15 AM: PML-N wins 146, independent candidates secure 100 seats, PTI wins 19, Human Rights Party wins 6, JI secures 4 seats from Gujranwala

3: 48 AM: Unofficial results for Punjab s 1902 seats out of 2381 announced. PML-N leads polls with 911 seats, followed by independent candidates with 733 seats. PTI wins 266 seats from Punjab.

1:37 AM: Complete unofficial results for Sargodha s UC 154 announced. Provinicial Minister Zakia Shahnawaz s nephew Umair Khan Niazi wins on PML-N ticket.
