Rain, snowfall turn weather chilly in upper parts of Pakistan

PMD office has further forecasted drizzling in Peshawar and Mardan

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Spell of rain and snowfall in upper areas of the country on early Wednesday morning has turned the weather colder.

Dark clouds surrounded Gilgit-Baltistan, Malakand, Hazara and Kashmir with intermittent rain still continues in some parts of the country. It also rained lightly in Rawalpindi, Islamabad and Lahore whereas cloudy weather has also been predicted in various areas.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) office has further forecasted drizzling in Peshawar and Mardan while scattered rain-thunderstorm with snowfall over hills is also expected in next 24 hours.

On the other hand, victims of October 26 earthquake and its subsequent aftershocks, who have been living out in the open, are facing additional problems due to rain and snowfall in upper parts of Pakistan.

Spokesman of Met-Office informed that a westerly wave has entered Pakistan on Sunday evening. Under the influence of this weather system rain/thunderstorm is expected at scattered places of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir and at isolated places of Zhob, Quetta, Rawalpindi, Sargodha divisions and Islamabad during Monday to Wednesday.

Snowfall is also expected over the hills of Malakand, Hazara divisions, GB and Kashmir during the period.
