No alterations to be made to CPEC due to 'fear of calamities': Pervez Rashid
73 sorties have flown to supplement relief efforts to the affected areas: Chairman NDMA
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Chairman National Disaster Cell Management Authority (NDMA) has said that relief efforts are underway with manpower of 8 helicopters, 3 C130s transportation aircraft and 2 Fokker aircrafts. He warned that a hiccup may come soon if heavy rain and snows commence from November 1, reported Dunya News.
Chairman NDMA Major General Ashgar Nawaz and Minster for Information and Broadcast Pervez Rashid gave a joint press briefing to media. General Asghar Nawaz said that 73 sorties of helicopters have flown to supplement relief efforts to the affected areas. He said that national highways of the country are cleared and ready for use.
Briefing the media, he said that the earthquake had not done much damage to hospitals whereas the process of verifying the affectees is underway.General Asghar Nawaz said that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had released a budget of Rs 2.8 billion for affected persons.
Replying to a question, Federal Broadcast and Information Minister Pervez Rashid said that China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) path will not be altered due to fears of natural calamities. He warned that delays may occur if heavy rain and snows commence from November 1 which will hamper the process.
He said that efforts are underway to make sure that stockpiles of relief goods can be stored at Tehsil level.
