LAHORE (Dunya News) – Opposition parties including Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and Jamat-e-Islami (JI) have demanded deployment of Army personnel during local body elections. Opposition has warned that if its demand is not met, it will go to court over the matter, reported Dunya News on Wednesday.

An emergency meeting was called by PTI in Lahore to formulate strategy on local body elections. It was decided in the meeting that Army’s deployment in local body elections is inevitable as state machinery including Punjab Police and provincial government will interfere in the proceedings.

PTI, PPP, JI, PML-Q and other opposition parties protested over government interference in allotting development funds near local body elections. Opposition parties have warned that if the demand of deployment of Pakistan Army is not met, they will go to court on Thursday.
