ECP bans broadcasting of unofficial, inconclusive LB polls results on media
Babar Yaqoob also warned of stern action against the violators.
LAHORE (Dunya News) – The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Monday has banned broadcasting of unofficial and inconclusive results of local bodies elections on Media.
The secretary ECP Babar Yaqoob after chairing a key session over upcoming LB polls in Punjab and Sindh has ordered the media personnel to not on air any result which is not confirmed by the authorities.
He strongly urged the media to follow directives and barred it from claiming any election’s outcome without approving from concerning returning officers.
ECP secretary further stated that Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) would monitor the activities of all the channels on the day of polling.
Moreover, Babar Yaqoob warned of stern action against the violators.
Earlier, ECP has stopped Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) from holding rallies at Dhobi Ghat Ground in Faisalabad.
The parties have ardently stepped in the political ground for contesting in Punjab and Sindh local bodies election but the ECP officials have barred PTI and PML-N from conducting public gathering at Dhobi Ghat, terming it against the electoral rules and regulations.
A complete summary has also been forwarded to District Coordination Officer (DCO) from District Returning Officer Muhammad Razzaq, stating that only corner meetings can be held for LB polls.
