RAWALPINDI: (Dunya News) – Chairman National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Qamar Zaman Chaudhry has on Thursday said that corruption is the biggest hurdle in the way of progress. He said that NAB will not rest until the menace is eradicated from the country, reported Dunya News.

hairman NAB visited NAB’s Rawalpindi bureau to inspect the performance there. Director General NAB Rawalpindi Zahir Shah briefed him over various cases and told that 7 references have so far been filed in the rental power case and they are being heard in Accountability Court. He told that the prime accused in these cases include former Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf and foreign Secretary and Chairman PEPCO. He told Chairman NAB that 2 rental power cases were in investigation stage while 3 were in probing stage.

Qamar Zaman Chaudhry termed NAB Rawalpindi’s performance as satisfactory and said that NAB is most important pillar for curbing corruption in Pakistan and it is the duty of NAB to eliminate corruption from the country. “We are determined to eradicate corruption from Pakistan”, he said. “The biggest hurdle in Pakistan’s way of progress is corruption, poverty, injustice and lack of merit”, he added. “Not only do the development projects face delays due to corruption but also damage the national exchequer”, he said.
