PESHAWAR (Dunya News) – Peshawar Police thwarted a large scale terrorism attempt during the month of Muharram-ul-Haram on Friday. Police seized suicide jackets, maps of sensitive installations and ammunition in large amounts. 2 persons were also arrested during the operation, reported Dunya News.

A special team of Peshawar Police led by SSP Operations raided Armar area of Peshawar on an intelligence tip-off. During operation on a vacant school 6 concealed suicide jackets, 8 detonators, fuses, maps of sensitive areas and 18 kilograms of explosives were recovered.

According to police, two suspects have been arrested. According to police, the explosives and suicide jackets recovered during the raid could have been potentially used in acts of terrorism during Muharram. However, timely action by the police foiled the plan.

According to police, the attacks were being planned by a group that has ties with a banned terrorist organization, the members of which are being hunted down by the police.
