The Supreme Court has stopped by-election in NA 154 Lodhran.

ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) – The Supreme Court has halted implementation of the election tribunal’s decision regarding re-election in NA-154 constituency of Lodhran and restored membership of Pakistan Muslim League—Nawaz (PML-N) candidate Siddique Baloch.

A three member bench of the apex court headed by Justice Saqib Nisar today (Tuesday) suspended the decision of election tribunal regarding by-election in NA-154.

The court has also issued notices to all the concerned parties.

Siddique Baloch was de-seated by the tribunal on August 26 over a petition filed by former secretary general of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Jahangir Tareen against alleged rigging in NA-154 (Lodhran) during the 2013 general elections.

Baloch had challenged the verdict in the Supreme Court of Pakistan.

By-election in the constituency was scheduled to be held on 11 October, 2015.

In his remarks after the apex court s judgement, Siddique Baloch said, challenging the decision of the election tribunal to get justice was his right.

He said, his degree is genuine and the allegations made by PTI leader Jahangir Tareen against his degree are baseless.

TAREEN RESPONDS

Talking to media after the court verdict, opposition candidate Jahangir Tareen said the ruling PML-N is hiding behind stay orders and the verdict is clear that PTI rules the heart of people of Pakistan.

He said that courtiers of the PML-N used to boast they will fight in the court of public, but ran away from NA-154 by-polls.
