FAISALABAD: (Dunya News) – Federal Minister of State for Water and Power Chaudhry Abid Sher Ali on Saturday suggested postponing the local body elections, due to be held in late October and November in Punjab, for 1 month. Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leaders were livid with the suggestion and said that they won’t allow postponing the elections at any cost, reported Dunya News.
Is the government looking for an escape or is it actually the respect for the month of Muharram? PML-N leader Abid Sher Ali started a new debate by suggesting local body elections for one month.
PTI leader Umar Sarfraz Cheema said that the ruling Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) is looking for an escape from the elections but PTI won’t let this happen.
PPP also opposed Abid Sher Ali’s statement. Leaders said that they won’t allow postponement of local body elections in Punjab at any cost.
The statements of 2 of the most important government leaders definitely contradict as Rana Sanaullah says that the local body elections will take place on time. PPP and PTI are also opposing the postponement of the elections.
