Summary Nawaz Sharif said the present government has taken major decisions to address the major issues

ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) – Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Friday reiterated that there will be no letup in Karachi operation and it will be taken to its logical conclusion.

The Prime Minister gave these remarks during meeting with a delegation of chambers of commerce and exporters group in Islamabad. Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, Commerce Minister Khurram Dastgir Khan and Minister for Petroleum and Natural ResourcesShahid Khaqan Abbasi were also present in the meeting.

Addressing the participants, Nawaz Sharif reminded that the operation in Karachi was launched with consensus and situation significantly improved there over the last two years.

He expressed the confidence that complete peace will be restored in the provincial capital in the next one and a half year.

Nawaz Sharif said the present government has taken major decisions to address the major issues including terrorism, economic and energy crisis with national consensus.

He said no country can make progress without enhancing its revenues besides we can only pay off our debts by increasing our resources.

The premier regretted that the country’s exports have not witnessed any growth over the past few years while other economies in South Asia have surpassed us in this field.

He urged the business community to give their valuable inputs to fix the problem of stagnant growth in exports. He also assured the government will address the problems faced by the business community.

On the occasion, the Prime Minister also directed the National Electric Power Regularity Authority (NEPRA) to reduce the electricity prices up to Rs 2.19 and 2.14 per unit for the months of June and July under the fuel adjustment plan.

He said the reduction in prices will be reflected in the bills of coming months.

Nawaz Sharif said the government will continue to pass on the benefit of lowering oil prices to the consumers.
